Hudson Yards

En Viu brought Weigl a brief that had already been thought through with real care: the room needed a television built into the wall for the private dining space to function, but the artwork itself couldn't be compromised by hiding a screen behind it, or feel like a design afterthought. That clarity, knowing exactly what mattered and why, set the challenge properly from the start.

Weigl works modularly in panels, and that became the answer rather than a workaround. Instead of concealing the seam, he designed the piece as two panels that read as one continuous form when closed, and still hold together visually when parted to reveal the screen. The challenge wasn't hiding the function; it was making sure the piece never looked broken by it, whether open or shut.

It was a new kind of problem for Weigl to solve: art that had to perform two jobs at once, but one he took on willingly, guided by En Viu and alongside Rockwell Group, who'd supported his work before. The result was well received on every side, by En Viu, by Rockwell, and by the client they represented.
